In some cases the problem is strictly structural and in other cases, the cause can be a reflection of imbalances in the body systems as well as emotional and mental stress.

This is the list of the many possible causes of a chronic back pain:
• Previous accident or trauma
• Previous injury (disc, spine)

• Health conditions such as arthritis, osteoporosis, fibromyalgia
• Muscle tightness from stress
• Hips imbalance/twist

• Lack of flexibility with low mobility

• Over/under use of one muscle of a group of muscles
• Inflammation (local or systemic)
• Mental stress overload
• Emotional stress
• Poor diet (nutrients deficiency)
• Overweight
• Weak core muscles
• Tendon or joints problems

How can Massage help chronic back pain?

Remedial Massage will release specific trigger points that may be causing your back pain, increasing blood flow, flexibility and mobility.
In 60% of lower back pain issues, neck pain is also present and should as well be treated.

How can Kinesiology help chronic back pain?

A thorough examination of the neurofeedback of the muscles surrounding the pelvis and the whole spine must be performed on a first visit to determine the muscles that are weak or switched off, causing imbalance and compensation due to the body having to recruit other muscles to keep going.
Interesting to note that the back pain causes listed above don’t necessarily show up alone. In fact, most of them start to appear in a silent cascading effect.

For example, muscle tightness, mental stress overload and poor diet (unfortunately) are commonly present in professionals who seat most of the time for their jobs, which also makes them prone to injuries, lack of flexibility and lack of muscle tone. It is always challenging to create a new habit, but it is so important for those people who work in an office to introduce a physical activity that they enjoy and that suits their body and lifestyle as pushing the body too much can cause more harm than good.

It is never easy to create a new habit, but with special techniques and a strategy that will bring you results, it may be much easier than your mind thinks.

• Introduce a deep breath when you notice the stress level is high enough. Breathe into your belly to the count of 4. Hold for the count of 6 and release slowly to the count of 8. Try one now, so you can see for yourself how it feels. It will relax the nervous system and help release muscles straight away
• Prioritise walks in nature, letting the mind switch off
• Be mindful on how you walk, how you pick up stuff from the floor. I know it is hard to pay attention, but it is a new habit that will make a whole difference
