I find that most people don’t know how relaxing affects the quality of their work and all the aspects of their lives in general. When talking about relaxation, I can’t stress enough how quantity doesn’t equals quality – and you can tell that simply by noticing that so many people that sleep seven, eight hours, or more, and still wake up and still feel tired.
There are some important worthwhile tips that are simple, and yet, overlooked by so many. In fact, I’d go as far as to say that the most uncomplicated tools and advices in life are usually the ones people fail to value. So, how can you actually rest?

Be a master in handling distractions
Get yourself away from external distractions, such as worries from the previous or next day, electronic devices and thoughts that don’t allow you to stay present. Apart from what many people think, the relaxation happens on your mind even more than on your body. That’s why it is so important to slowly learn to disconnect, letting go of thoughts that cause you stress.
What do you know about your sleep
Improve the quality of your sleep. All the things you do before you go to bed have a great impact on the quality of your sleep. That’s why I would suggest that you create a ritual for this special and important moment. Allow your body and mind to surrender to the relaxation and restoration that will come from a good night of sleep. The art of surrendering will help you not only to relax your muscles, but to relax your mind so you can truly rest.
Reflect on your priorities
Make repairing rest a priority. That means, make yourself a priority. And if this sounds selfish to you, please remember that to be able to help others and to live your life at its fullest, you need energy. So make sure your energy is always your number one priority.
