Remedial Massage consists of a precise manipulation of the muscles, ligaments, tendons, fascia, blood vessels in order to relief body tension and tightness.
Remedial Massage not always need to be painful to be effective, even though it can be intense when there is major tightness (and knots) in certain areas. Fingers, hands and elbows may be used in different areas of the body. Stretching is also an important part of a treatment, aiming for muscles and tendons to loosen up and help to mobilise the joints.
I have seen relief in my clients with several conditions:
- arthritis
- fibromyalgia
- headache
- insomnia
- migraine
- jaw issues (clenching, grinding)
- lower back pain
- knees problems
- neck pain
- shoulder pain
- Pins and needles on arms or legs
- numbness on arms or legs
- sciatica
And much more.
Remedial Massage will improve blood flow, as well as stimulate the lymphatic system and balance the nervous system, which makes the treatment preventive of many injuries and health conditions.
What is the difference between Remedial Massage and Relaxation Massage?
Even though the pressure of Remedial Massage may vary according to the amount of pressure each person can tolerate in a safe way, the aim is to release tension in deep muscles, fascia and tendons. Because I also use relaxation techniques in order for the superficial muscles to relax, frequently people leave the clinic more relaxed although energised, with greater mobility and flexibility.
Whether you prefer both massages combined in the same session, or you prefer either only Remedial or only relaxation, I will tailor to your specific needs.
What do Trigger Points Therapy do?
I find Trigger Points are very effective to resolve chronic pain, impingement, lack of mobility. I use them in all my treatments.
How does Kinesiology complement a Remedial Massage?
Most times I also combine Kinesiology into a Massage treatment to find out where the imbalances specifically are located in the body system, as muscles tightness sometimes can be also be a result of hormonal or internal organ imbalance. Kinesiology is also very effective to relief emotional issues affecting the physical.
