My first year as a Digital Nomad

I always dreamt of having the freedom to travel and work wherever I liked. I eventually made this a reality. See what my first year was like

What has life been like transitioning to be a digital nomad

I’ve always had the dream to become free to travel and work, but I always had something holding me back: a job that is not location independent, a relationship, not enough funds, or a visa restriction. This project came to full fruition in December 2021. After decluttering my home and hitting the road, it gave me the opportunity to petsit amazing fur babies, and visit 4 states in 3 countries, including the Australian East Coast, Brazil and the US.

I’ve learnt so much and here are my biggest embodied lessons for the past year.

1- MINIMALISM & LIVING LIGHTLY

I chose to move to my next destination every 1 to 2 months, this way, I am invited to consume less and live lightly. I love the feeling of “safety” relying on myself rather than on material stuff. Instead of going through this by myself, I hired a professional organiser to help me declutter so I could live my dream. I got rid of most of the clothes that I don’t really use and it feels so freeing. I also learnt to say NO to gifts that I don’t utilise. Hard, but it has been so empowering.

2- I THRIVE WITH VARIETY AND MOVEMENT

I gained more awareness about my own nature which helped me to follow my own rhythms and flow. I experience growth by being in movement. Whilst some people need a stable base, I found that being on the road helps me to cycle month to month, close loose ends and detach so I can move forward.

3- TRUST & SIMPLICITY

I get to live in trust…
It’s very nourishing to know I’ll be in the right place, the right time, meeting the right people who will show me the next step of my path inspired by my favourite books of all times: the alchemist and the Celestine Prophecy

4- FREEDOM TO FOLLOW MY HEARTS DESIRES

I reaffirmed that “following my heart is my only option”.

I could use the location independence in my favour, by creating a business model through online courses and programs where I feel so fulfilled and that helps others at the same time. I exercised my intuition each day through that process.

5- I CAN LIVE MY DREAM

I learned that the dream of becoming a digital nomad became possible in ways I did not expect I did not know I was going to do Pet Sitting but if it was something that came into my world so organically and if I still aligns to the desire of looking after Pasta spending times with pets pets and it flows effortlessly, meaning that I offer have three or four months I had booked Pet Sitting opportunities and people messaging me every week.

So, ultimately, what I learnt is that dreams are possible when we patiently, diligently and passionately take one baby-step after another.
