How to start a fabulous day?
Along the years I have built up my arsenal of “treats” I like to give my mind, body and soul every day, just because they make me feel good.
Here are the most powerful ones in my opinion:
JOURNALLING FIRST THING IN THE MORNING
This helped me to clear my negative mindset in the morning and start the day focused.
EXERCISE
My favourite exercise routines are Yoga, Dance, Pilates, Swimming, Zumba. I just tune in and ask my body what it needs.
That’s is my favourite way to start my day lately… I like to stretch and exercise before eating anything.
Sometimes I also do abs to activate my core.
HAVING FRESH GINGER TEA
This one I like to have before my exercise throughout winter. Ginger is cleansing, warming and detoxing.
Just pour boiling water on finely chopped ginger. yuuuummmm!
DANCE
This grounds me. I do dance anytime, anywhere though.
I just turn my Spotify on and tune into either my favourite songs or the rhythm that feels more appropriate.
On the days I wake up more energised I listen to more pumped up songs. Other days I realy need to start slow and I recept that!
BREATHING
I know the parts of my body that need focus at any given time. And that’s exactly what I help my clients achieve too.
I have learnt throughout the years that I need to ground myself and strengthen my core, these have been the underdeveloped parts of my body during my upbringing.
Even though I chose to do some pranayama sometimes, I am enjoying the fire breath, as it activates my core, improves my digestion and warms me up!
MEDITATION
Sometimes I follow guided meditations, sometimes I make my own. Sometimes silent, sometimes moving and during Yoga.
My favourite guided one is by Abraham Hicks, to set a high vibration in the morning. The app Insight Timer is also amazing, have you tried?
LOVE MAKING
Ok, this is personal… but it’s a great way to start the day too.
So, what I avoid in the morning?
Everyone is different. You have to consider if you are an introvert or an extrovert. What makes you feel really good?
Some people would say: coffee, others would say swim, cold shower… Learning how to tune into your body and asking what it needs is primordial!!
I AVOID:
- looking on my phone first thing in the morning
- replying to FB messages first thing
- speaking (yes, I like to keep it to myself in the morning and I let my loved ones know, before I get frustrated…. I had to create boundaries there)
- coffee (whilst a lot of people would loooove coffee in the morning, I personally don’t enjoy the effects of it in my body)
- noise – I do enjoy silence in the morning
How about you? Take 1 minute to close your eyes, take 3 breaths into the belly and ask yourself, ask your body…
– “ What do you need right now?”
In the beginning, you may hear crickets. It’s normal. And this practice is like going to the gym. The more you practice, the less painful it is and the more results you get.
