I just came out of my second Vipassana Meditation Retreat. It was intense, but I’ve nailed it and I’m now embodying and implementing the changes.
I had done my first back in 2011 when I was still unsure if I wanted to stay in Australia.
I’ve grown so much since then, and it felt amazing to see that growth.

Of course, I had worries and fears about saying yes to this experience of a lifetime. But when I feel that deep certainty in my belly, my inner warrior crosses the line and says: “Let’s go!”
I showed up committed, letting my controlling, rule-breaking rebel make space for openness, trust, and surrender.
I put my spiritual ego aside and chose to show up wholeheartedly—following as many rules as I could without breaking them 🤣.
There were tough moments, but I was ready to face and adapt to them.
Even though silence isn’t my biggest challenge, I was concerned about two things:

Physical pain—because my body loves movement.
-
Facing my mental dramas—because, well, my mind loves a good story.
And of course, both pain and mental drama showed up. But they became raw material—helping me alchemize the waste built up in my mind and body.
Making this hard decision highlighted my strengths.
So many people tell me, “I could never do it.”
When I ask why, some say:
-
“I couldn’t be in silence for 10 days.”
-
“I couldn’t handle the body pain of sitting still.”
-
“I can’t leave my family, friends, or kids.”
-
“I can’t afford to take time off work. And if I do, I want to enjoy myself, not meditate.”
And the truth is—meditation is not easy. But I truly believe that facing our fears with courage and grace outside of our comfort zone is the way to go.
I’ve been exploring my ADHD lifestyle and learning to make choices that serve me—so I can serve others more.
What I’m Implementing After Vipassana
1. Time Blocking

At the retreat, our time felt so abundant. Even with a full schedule, there was space for walking, stretching, leisure, and even naps. I never felt rushed.
So, I decided to apply the same time-blocking principles in my life.
I redesigned my whole weekly schedule, color-coded it on my Apple Calendar, and finally added time blocks for meditation. Hooray! 🎉
For boring tasks, I’m back to using Focusmate, which is incredible for staying on track.
2. Stop Mindless Scrolling
I had no idea how much time I was wasting until I spent 10 days without my phone.
Apparently, my iPhone claims I use 5 hours of screen time per day. (That can’t be right, can it?)
But being without my phone felt like I had gained 5 extra hours in my day. So now, I’m making a conscious effort to cut the madness.
I’m opening social media with more attentiveness and intention. If it’s posting time, I come in aware so I am not distracted by fun dancing videos (OMG! My mind loves relaxing with dancing and funny cat videos).
I can still scroll, the key is to set a timer for 10- 15 minutes for mindful scrolling, at least I get a bell bringing me back to reality.
Cool, isn’t it? Will you try mindful scrolling it?
3. Stop Nervous Eating
Okay, I’ll be honest—I still get up to grab food while working at the desk. (I literally just did it. Twice.)
But at least now, I notice it. And instead of reaching for chocolate or chips, I grabbed an apple and some soup I made. Progress!
4. Batch Cooking & Batch Content for Ease
Not having to cook while still having nourishing food was a blessing at the retreat.
So, I decided to bring that home. Every Monday, I make a big veggie cleansing soup—so I always have something wholesome instead of grabbing whatever’s easiest.
Batching can work for other things, that’s why I am setting a 2-hour block on Wednesdays to focus on content creation only. I have a system for batching that is working wonders. Stay tune as I will share it with you!
5. Prioritizing Meditation
The 10-day retreat helped me re-learn the technique and actually implement it. Now, I meditate:

Every morning and evening.
-
Whenever I feel triggered.
-
Whenever I have spare time.
My goal? To make meditation a natural habit—one that replaces mindless scrolling.
If I can’t sit down for the life of me, I get to practice 5 – 15 minutes of dance meditation.
6. Stop Believing Everything My Mind Says
I knew my mind liked to catastrophise, but wow. During the retreat, my mind:

Killed my mom in my imagination.
-
Made up a whole story about my partner breaking up with me.
Shocking, right?!?
Being an entrepreneur isn’t easy, so keeping the mind and body fresh are key for longevity and success.
As I support others, I also have a support team of therapists, healers, and coaches who help me to create awareness of my fears and worries so I can shift it around before it gets to control me.
7. Pausing to Connect with My Body
The whole point of Vipassana is simple but profound: respond more, react less.
Since coming back, I’ve noticed I’m less reactive. My mind still tries to make me feel anxious or unworthy, but now, there’s a pause. A gap where I can shift my focus before I spiral.
So, I’m adding intentional pauses into my day:

Dance breaks whenever I feel like moving.

Chakra alignment while driving.
-
Going for short walks
(Well, I saved 5 hours of mindless scrolling, remember? I have time for this sh*t now.)

Now, instead of forcing myself into a strategy that doesn’t feel right, I am choosing to pause and check in with my body. Owning that sacral wisdom as a Human Design generator should!
8. Befriending Structure
I’ve never enjoyed routines—they always felt trapping to me.
But I’ve realised the power of some structure. So, I’m finding my own version of structure, infused with play and creativity, like balancing feminine and masculine, yin and yang.
So instead of “winging” everything I am scheduling the most important needle movers in my business and leaving the rest to allow some spontaneity and creativity.
9. Rethinking Rules
Born and raised a rule-breaker, I’ve always resisted structure.
But I realised that rules aren’t a prison—they’re only restrictive when we don’t understand they exist to support and protect our purpose driven goals.
Times are gone when I thought there was a right way to do business that I needed to follow outside of me.
I no longer believe I need to post everyday, launch big, overdeliver, offer sales calls to everyone. So I am tuning into what works for me.
10. Less Mindless Doing, More Soulful Being
I am starting this new cycle with the mindset of HOW I decide to do things is more important that the WHAT.
Achievements are great, but being connected to my purpose matters more!
I ignored I needed pauses before, but now I am taking consistent conscious pauses in my business and lifestyle to check-in what’s my most aligned next step.
It’s been a week since I am back, and through daily practice, it’s slowly but surely changing my life and business.
I believe you have an unique path and brain configuration at any given moment, so only you can truly know inside what’s going to work for you depending on your current reality.
You’re wise.
