1) How to say “NO” without feeling guilty
Say NO to invitations, to people and situation may come easy to some people and it can be a struggle for others.
It has always been a real struggle for me. Firstly because I was so insecure that, if I said NO to an invitation, the person would not love me anymore (super dramatic, huh? But sadly true!).
Gosh, how much I ignored my own needs in the past, just to be “liked” and “loved”.
Today, knowing who I am, my needs, my desires, the FREEDOM I stand for and what is really important to me, it became super easy to COMMUNICATE with love and confidence my intrinsic needs and have more of win-win situations with people, rather than trying to please them all the time and feel empty.
2) Make my body, health and rest a priority
This is the second year in a row I committed to yoga, pilates, dance meditation, which I go every week.
I rarely miss a class (because it’s my priority and I learnt I deserve to nurture my body and the importance of that to feel energetic and increase my strength and vitality)
If it happens I need to miss the class for any major reason, I still try to fit in at least 15 minutes of practice at home.
3) Make meditation a habit I adore
I tried many types of meditation. Over the past 15 years I practised Vipassana, Mindfulness, Yoga Nidra, Zen Budhist Meditation, Active Meditation, Raja Yoga, Sahaja Yoga, 5 rhythms, Dancing Freedom, Soul Motion, Inner Dance
I experienced it all, until I really found a combination of what worked for me. And I must say that meditation with movement, such as 5 rhythms, Dancing Freedom, Soul Motion and Inner Dance do wonders in slowing down my thoughts and in balancing my Mind, Body and Emotions.
Every week I join at least 1 moving meditation class, adding bits of it on my own at home when I feel I need it.
4) Applied skills I learnt to improve my relationship with my mum.
These days I have a preference for experiential retreats that teach me intra-personal and interpersonal skills that builds deeper connections, rather than just go to a talk where information can’t be applied in real life.
In 2018 I deepened even more my understanding and experience in subjects such as: how to operate our mind, how to deal with our emotions. I also included business, marketing, personal, spiritual, around emotions, did my Reiki course level 2.
I participated in circles where we practice how to express ourselves with Emotional Intelligence. Wow!!
My relationship with my mum improved 1000 fold!
5) Practice what I preach. Keep positive thinking (not only talking about it)
Before becoming a Kinesiologist and working with healing and energy, I thought that it was enough to have a healing session, feel good and then go back to my old habits and behaviors.
I didn’t realise all the healing was doing was to make it easier for me to change and that I had to still take responsibility and implement the change in my life and find the inner strength to deal with any discomfort from creating a new habit.
In 2018 I declared myself fully responsible for my thoughts, no one to blame for my problems.
I am always in charge and I always have the choice to think in an innovative way.
6) Honor my spontaneous self and be open to creativity and possibility
In the past I used to plan a lot of things to do, people to meet. During my FOMO moments (fear of missing out), I used to book out my whole week with social events, courses, movies, diners.
I questioned this way of living when I noticed I couldn’t find time to look within.
In the past 3 years I went to the opposite side of the scale and I have been deepening in this lesson of living in the present moment. Magical things came my way without any planning.
In 2019 I want to integrate both by balancing social events and quiet time and honor the importance to make plans.
7) I deepened the listening to my INTUITION
My INTUITION ALWAYS spoke to me. And I ignored it for over 30 years!!
It was 6 years ago when I was actually able to listen to that very subtle voice inside my head and give it some attention and CREDIT!!
I realised I was travelling the most difficult path because I wasn’t following the guidance of my inner wisdom.
Once I started paying attention, life gained direction and it brings even more purpose.
8) Embodied gratitude.
I don’t need to sit and do gratitude practice and it is now part of me. I wake up and feel grateful for my bed and the house I live in. I feel genuinely grateful for the space I am in.
Every morning I include the things I am grateful for: my shower, my spiritual connection, my work, my car, my clients, my lifestyle, my food.
Even if I forget, I don’t let it lapse for more than 1 day.
When challenges bring my vibration down with some self-doubt, frustration or sadness I care to reach out for the feeling of GRATITUDE as soon as I can, because I know that the longer I dwell on the NEGATIVITY, the longer will take for me to raise my vibration again to POSITIVITY.
What have you learnt in 2018?
